Goals of this position:

To assist the North American Engineering and R&D department by conducting testing and reporting, contributing to overall success of sales and compliance of Viessmann heating and cooling products in North America.

A successful candidate will be multidisciplinary, eager to learn and grow into new responsibilities, and work well in a team environment.
 

Detailed responsibilities:

  • Champion the Carrier Way: Consistently display a strong work ethic and great attitude, contribute a strong sense of team responsibility, beginning with senior reports and down channel across the entire team.
  • Evolving Subject Matter Expertise: Assist in defining team procedures or standards and performance objectives; provide recommendations for procedural improvements; understand the language/terms/jargon.
  • Collaborating with our internal Research & Development team, as well as testing facilities in Canada, USA and Europe through research and analysis.
  • Contributing to new product development by performing tests on prototypes, existing products and components as required, e.g. performance testing, safety certification, emissions testing, cycle testing, altitude testing, system integration, functional evaluation, etc.
  • Supporting existing products through testing boilers, heat pumps and other HVAC products in our state-of-the-art lab, following applicable standards, certification and test requirements.
  • Analyzing data as collected during testing, perform calculations as required and preparing test reports.
  • Expanding digitalization knowledge in the areas of IOT, networking and automated control systems.
  • Developing an in-depth understanding of instrumentation, measurement principles and calibration.
  • Preparing draft versions of technical literature by creating written documentation of processes, technical information and proof-reading.

 

Skills and competencies:

  • Two or three year college diploma (Mechanical Eng. Technician or Technologist programs).
  • 5 years experience in HVAC industry of North America preferred.
  • Membership and designation with OACETT is valued.
  • G.2 or G.3 gas license would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with refrigeration systems; 313D refrigeration license would be valued.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem solving mindset with hands on experience and ability to use a variety of tools proficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex or abstract theories with a firm understanding.
  • Willingness to develop in-depth understanding of relevant North American certification/standards like ASME, AFUE, CRN, CSA, UL, etc.
  • Interest in learning about competition, market trends and emerging technology.
  • Strong base knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and its applications.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Valid Passport with no restrictions on international travel.
