As the hydronic heating industry moves into the electric market, heat pumps are becoming part of our system. For those of use that are used to burning fuel to provide heat, the question becomes how is the heat pump providing energy into the system. How much energy can we expect? What are the basic designs of a heat pump? How does a heat pump integrate into a hydronic system? These are the questions that will be answered during this presentation.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the process by which a heat pump can produce energy and the factors that can change the output.
- Describe the various configurations of air to water heat pumps for hydronic systems.
- Explain how a heat pump hydronic heating system is similar and differs from a fossil fuel system.
